About the Foundation

Stewarding — not owning — the Greenwood Blockchain.

The Greenwood Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to the stewardship, governance, and long-term development of the Greenwood Blockchain — infrastructure for the digital Black Wall Street that cannot be confiscated, altered, or pulled out from underneath the community it serves.

Mission

The Foundation exists to ensure Greenwood remains

Open
Neutral
Permissionless
Community governed
Publicly accessible
Technically secure

The Foundation develops the protocol, coordinates governance, supports the validator ecosystem, funds public infrastructure, and promotes adoption of the Greenwood Network for developers, institutions, researchers, and builders worldwide. The Foundation does not operate commercial businesses and does not exist to maximize profits for any private party. Its responsibility is to preserve the long-term health of the Greenwood ecosystem.

Vision

Build the world's most accessible decentralized computing infrastructure.

Greenwood seeks to become foundational public infrastructure for decentralized applications, digital identity, financial systems, artificial intelligence, media, gaming, scientific research, and future internet services — engineered first for underrepresented, highly intelligent creators and engineers, and open to the world. Like Linux transformed operating systems and the Internet transformed communication, Greenwood aims to become public infrastructure for decentralized computation.

Core principles

What the Foundation holds to

Open Source First

All protocol software is developed openly. Reference implementations are publicly available. Development occurs through transparent technical processes.

Neutral Infrastructure

The Foundation does not favor any company, application, validator, or participant. All builders operate under identical protocol rules.

Community Governance

The Greenwood protocol evolves through transparent governance. Technical decisions are proposed publicly. Validators and governance participants review protocol changes before adoption.

Decentralization

The Foundation exists to reduce — not increase — centralization. Its long-term objective is to distribute authority across an increasingly decentralized validator community.

Transparency

Technical roadmaps, treasury reporting, governance decisions, protocol upgrades, Foundation operations, and board decisions are published publicly whenever appropriate.

Board of Directors

Independent oversight

The Foundation is governed by an independent Board of Directors. The Board oversees mission alignment, financial stewardship, executive leadership, governance, compliance, and strategic direction. Board members serve the interests of the Foundation and the public ecosystem — not any private party.

Executive Leadership

Day-to-day stewardship

The Foundation's executive team manages daily operations, including operations, developer relations, community growth, partnerships, research coordination, grant administration, communications, and Foundation management.

The long-term goal

The Greenwood Foundation exists to steward — not own — the Greenwood Blockchain. Its long-term success is measured by the independence of the protocol, the strength of its global developer and validator community, and the continued operation of Greenwood as neutral, open, decentralized public infrastructure for the digital Black Wall Street and the world.
